The results are expected to provide valuable recommendations to the designers and the manufacturers of motorcyclist gloves, as well as the motorcyclists while making choices of purchasing gloves. This study has two parts: the first part intends to understand the uses and choices of gloves among motorcyclists and the behavioral shifts in braking operations upon glove wearing by questionnaire survey, and the second part investigates the performance and subjective judgment on using different glove types in road tests. The results show that among the four types of glove used in the road tests the UV-proof gloves are the only glove type that has significant performance differences form the barehanded handed operations. Gender and riding speed also reveal significant influence on braking accuracy. In addition, compensatory behaviors are found in the road test experiments. Finally, several suggestions are made for the designers and the consumers of motorcyclist gloves: the size of gloves should fit the hand size of individual motorcyclists as much as possible; it is also important to have greater friction in the glove surface materials; and thickness of the cotton gloves seems be a better choice. 陳安哲 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 99 zh-TW
