Many competitors enter this competition, and MRT system is finished in succession to enter public transport as well. Under this difficult situation and the huge decrease in passengers, how to maintain the competitiveness is the most important task that every bus company has to deal with. For bus companies, there are three ways to enhance the competitiveness: (1) The modification of the bus route (2) The improvement of the bus stops (3) The refinement of the bus timetable. The effect upon the improvement of the bus route and the bus stops is hard to figure out in short term. Nevertheless, to refine the bus timetable may take effect soon. There are some factors that affect the headway setting. These factors include the arrival rate of passengers, the driving cost, the profit of the bus company, the benefit of passengers and so on. The thesis will follow the past scholars’ assumption, and also consider the loss of passenger fleeing and other competitors on the same route to solve two problems that are about single-headway of single-route and multiple-headway. Besides, we take the arrival rate of passengers, the driving duration, the time scale of the passengers get on and off a bus, and the amount of people that get off a bus to be our variables. We also cancel the uniform price. Instead, we adopt the computer software Arena to be our method for simulating. Through this model, it can be useful and helpful to the system design. Finally, it used case study to test the accuracy of our model, and to confirm if the simulation corresponds with the status quo. Then we also adjust the parameters. After simulating, we get the results which reduce 27.16 % loss. And this improves that our model can diminish the operation cost and can also provide consultations for the bus companies to plan their bus schedules.
