In 1980s, during the period of the rising of Nativism, Yi-Lan County was involved in the conflict between the environment and politics. The local governments’ architecture styles was affected by the globalization, however, Yi-Lan County proposed on opposite idea from the cultural development to regional space movement to construct a local government structure with the local characteristic. This thesis attempts to introspect the issue of the process of Yi-Lan County regional construction by exploring the regionality of the Yi-Lan County Building. The regionality of Yi-Lan County Government Building Design is discussed through Kenneth Frampton’s “Critical Regionalism” in this study. First of all, we realize the application rules of the planning by interviewing the design group. In addition, stratifying sampling questionnaire are included thus to realize people’s satisfaction, to identify design rules and architecture styles in order to further explore the identification of the Yi-Lan County Government Building. Finally, different feelings of the architecture design among different users are discussed as well. This study has the following conclusions: first, there is a little compatibility and relationship between design rules of the“telier zo” and the regionalism. Almost all of the users of the Yi-Lan County Government Building are satisfy with each design rules and the entity sprit of the Yi-Lan architecture styles. Second, the design provides a direction of regional architecture culture. This study proposes the idea of“New Traditional Style”or“New Yi-Lan Style”and expects that it will be helpful to the development of the“Yi-Lan Architecture”. It is important to consider the application of the structure, architecture style, the site characteristic and architecture space. Culture maybe is just the media of the regionality and globalization.
