For finding the right direction and route to destination, everyone wants to get some short and correct indications. However, after receiving indications, it means these will help drivers head to the right place, doesn’t it? Moreover, sometimes these indications make them get more confused while wayfinding. What are the reasons causing them cannot find the right destination? What kind of problems will occur during wayfinding? This study takes young novice drivers as an example by using general more routes description that gives them hints linked to the location of destination to find out what the misunderstanding and mistake between drivers behavior and general more routes description is. Furthermore, this study carried out young novice drivers’ “think aloud”, “retrospection”, and “semi-structure interview” to gather the information while wayfinding together through the real-environmental experiments. According to realizing the application fields involved, including spatial knowledge, general more routes description, wayfinding features, and protocol analysis. This study recorded and analyzed the way how young novice drivers construct their cognitive map and what are their reactions while wayfinding. Finally, the interview with them is helpful for finding out not only the most important aspects within wayfinding but also the real experiences they have.
