It also aimed to explore the background and resulting problems of the development of Jinning joint elementary and junior high school. Reflecting on the findings in this study, some suggestions for educational administration and school were proposed. Moreover, recommendations for further studies were offered. One of the purposes of joint junior high school and elementary school is to realize the Nine-Year Compulsory Policy. From the points of view of the interviewees of teachers, the Policy has accomplished some of its major goals through sharing resources, improving the willingness of parents’ participation and making students more adaptive than other kind of schools, etc. However, one of the difficulties that affect the implementation of the joint junior high school and elementary school is the deep-rooted recognition of the so-called school system by most of the teachers, students and parents. In addition to this, there are some problems emerging such as the different time tables for elementary school students and junior high school students, the heavier burdens on the school administration and the plight to deal with the limited campus space. To most of the interviewees, although the relationship between joint junior high school teachers and elementary school teachers was much closer in this kind of joint school system, they considered that most of the essential spirits of joint junior high school and elementary school has totally come to an end after the administrative separation of Jinning junior high school and elementary school in1994.
