Description
Summary:碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 設計管理研究所碩士班 === 93 === With the arrival of the digitized technology era, computerization has already spread into every profession. It also brings a huge impact on industrial design, especially for its great help on the shortening of the time required for the whole designing processes and on the objects’ 3D image display for shape design. Traditionally, the activities of product shape design mainly depend on the performance of industrial designers’ personal skill, and from sketch drawing to fine rendering of the proposed product, they are mainly done by hand drawing. But following the fast development of the hardware and software of computers, the powerful computer and computer graphics software have already gradually displaced the hand drawing work. As to the shape design, the types of CAD/CAID (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Industrial Design) commonly used in industries are many. Users usually do not fully understand how to use their modeling functions and how to choose the appropriate software. Due to the fact of that the related information and literatures about the above mentioned issue are not complete, it has already caused the users puzzled on learning. There is indeed a need to make an exploration on this issue. This study used an interview and a questionnaire survey as the research methods. It is aimed at the currently commonly used CAD/CAID software on shape design to make an investigation and a functional comparison analysis. It hopes to objectively present the current application status and the evaluation results on shape design of CAD/CAID software, in order to provide a link between industrial and the academic circles and a reference guide for the application on shape design activities. The research results revealed that the shape modeling abilities and file accessing compatibility of CAD/CAID software are the most concerned by industrial circles. And users pay more attention to the continuation of their own using habits, the future work needs, and the shape design abilities (including modeling and rendering abilities) on the consideration factors of selecting software. In addition, users thought the shape design software should possess the following functions: shape modeling, design intuition, the compatibility of file accessing, and rendering. Furthermore, currently the most commonly used CAD/CAID software in domestic industries on the shape design work is Pro/E, Alias, Rhino in turn, but is Alias, Pro/E, Rhino in turn according to industrial designers’ personal preference. It means that the above mentioned three CAD/CAID software are more correspond with the users’ identification in application. The research results also revealed that, at the present, there is no software can be superior to all others in every aspect of characteristics and functions, and even replaces all other CAD/CAID software in the application of shape design.
