Besides the savings in costs and increase in efficiency, it is well known that IT outsourcing, like other outsourcing activities, has certain risks. This study tried to identify such risks through literature reviews as well as interviews with industry practitioners. We then study the different managing behaviors of the outsourcing firms and measures of outsourcing performance. The objective of this thesis is to try to understand the impact of these managing behaviors on outsourcing performance, as well as reducing related outsourcing risks. A survey questionnaire was developed and sent to the MIS managers in financial, IT related, and retailing industries in Taiwan. Structural Linear Models were used to analyze the survey data. The results indicate that certain managing behaviors do have effects on reducing some of the risks and lead to better outsourcing performance.
