碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 應用中國文學系碩士在職專班 === 93 === The Research on Cheng Hwang Temple’s Oracle in Kinmen This research is on Cheng Hwang Temple’s Oracle in Kinmen. The first Cheng Hwang Temple was built from Ming Dynasty. From Ming Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, there are three Cheng Hwang Temples in Kinmen. They are ” Old Land Cheng Hwang Temple”, ” Taishan Temple’, and “ Wudau Cheng Hwang Temple”. Firstly, this article introduced about Cheng Hwang’s invincible power on protecting people and the land. Then, the researcher explained Cheng Hwang Temple’s Oracles, and try to find the original sources of every oracle, inquire into the historical content, educational connotation, and the function of cultural inheritance. The researcher also discussed about the terminology, form, and rhetoric of the oracles. By the way, the researcher analyzed the surface significance, and deducted the in-depth metaphor to find the relationship between literature and belief. Looking for the correspondence of the oracle topics and oracle contents, and inducting the good -ill omen correspondence forms, the researcher discovered the relationship between oracles and people’s willing of asking the bamboo slip, and discussed the positive or negative influences on life. At the last of the thesis, through discussing these Oracles from content characteristics and social values, the research induced five Characteristics, included that (1) The writing is simple and easy to understand, (2) The meaning is fuzzy and unclear, (3) Using the literature skill well, (4) Using the common story, (5) The result tends to complete. It also indicated six values, included that (1) Mind reposing, (2) Self- tutelage, (3) Promoting the energy, (4) Propagandizing ethics, (5) Social function, (6) Transmitting culture. Through the research, the researcher hopes that people may pay much more attention on the inheriting and carrying forward the oracle’s culture.
