It is the point in this research that information conten of DEM data how to influence the extracting geomorphological characterisation and analysis In Taiwan ,producing several resolution of DEM data and playing more and more functions in the national economy and industry improves. Point of the research is to disscuss basic conception of spatial information content、theory、method of analysis to find the index of spatial information content about DEM and then to analysis precision in result and applicability .Choosing 5 meter resolution DEM be the reference DEM , and reduce to 10 meter、20 meter、40 meter resolution DEM , then resampling 10 meter、20 meter、40 meter resolution DEM to 5 meter resolution DEM . After resampling , extracting the geomorphological characteristation such as contour、hypsometric curve、slope、aspect、stream and to research information content losing rate and suitable index. Using computer language、number analysis、statistics、entropy、 fractal dimension、the error comparing. Discussing difference resolution DEM to extract geomorphological characterisation in hill or mountain area and it’s information content losing rate.
