Summary: | 碩士 === 義守大學 === 資訊管理學系碩士班 === 93 === Since joined the World Trade Organization in January, 2002, many industries in Taiwan have faced a profound influence and impact especially those having no competitive edges in the global markets. Accordingly, telecommunication industries will encounter an enormous turbulence on the globalization pathway in the future.
Oversea revenues of multinational telecommunication companies such as Vodafone in England, NTT and NTT DoCoMo in Janpan, KT in Korea, SingTel(ST) in Singapore, and PCCW and Hutchison in Kong Hong has steadily increased and so do their oversea investments in recent years.
Among all telecommunication companies, CHT is the largest in Taiwan, which has more resources and customer bases than others. Its business includes fixed network, mobile communication, and data communication…etc. However, as the market deregulated slowly, CHT will lose its privilege gradually in monopolizing the market shares as well as frequently adjusting the price without considering the consumer rights and the quality of its service. Nevertheless, CHT has built and managed the telecommunication infrastructure in the past. This creates hardships for some new companies to get into the business.
In this study, we will explore the focal points of each country in telecommunication industry. We will discuss the ratio of the total revenue from this industry to the gross national product (GNP). Hopefully, we will be able to have an insight in knowing the contribution and the importance of the industry to the nation.
We have focused on the individual case studies of these five telecommunication companies, CHT, NTT, KT, ST, and PCCW. Comparison will be made on the basis of the study results and the readily available telecommunication index. We are able to see the differences among them.
Finally, according to the collected data that were analyzed by Mike Porter''s Five-Force and Weihrich''s SWOT methods, results demonstrate advantages and disadvantages in competing the worldwide market shares and the current rivalry conditions among these five leading telecommunication firms. Among them, CHT has the strongest financial strength and vast technologies. If this superiority can wisely be applied in expanding the international market, it will be of great help to the company''s operating revenue and also lowering the risk.
