This research tries to modify the flushing agent to remove those two kinds of pollutants simultaneously. In general, acidic reagents or EDTA and surfactant are used to remediate the soil contaminated by heavy metal and organic pollutants, respectively. But these flushing agents may result in hazard to soil. Cyclodextrins without toxic effect to biology in soil, are used as the flushing agent. It was found from the flushing test that the removal efficiency of anthracene was higher than phenanthrene. We proposed that the rate of complex reaction plays an important role during the flushing processes. The time needed to approach stable complex is not the same for different pollytants. It was proposed that the formation inclusion complex for phenanthrene was faster than for anthracene. The removal efficiency of HPCD is higher than β-CD, because the HPCD possessed non-polar function group can increase the solubility of PAH in water.The soils with higher organic carbon content will retain the PAH within the soil column, and delay the elution time. Besides, the total removal efficiency of PAH from soils with higher organic carbon content is as well as the soils with low organic carbon content. The removal of lead from soil was also conducted in our research. But the result revealed that the efficiency was not good.
