Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 餐旅管理學系碩士班 === 93 === Risk Factors Associated with Musculoskeletal Discomfort and Chemical Cleaning Agent Exposure among Hotel Guestroom Attendants Abstract To investigate work risk factors among musculoskeletal discomfort and chemical cleaning agent injury carried out by hotel attendants, 198 self-reported questionnaires were collected from international tourist hotel (6), ordinary tourist hotel (3) and general hotel (8) during 2005 in Taiwan. In this study, 90.8% interviewees were female and the average age was 40.3. The average work hour was 8.8 per day and their average employment was 5.2 years. Most of them need to do another 1.5 hours housework each day, and only 26.8% of them had exercise habit. Standing was the most often used posture (37.4%-80.8%) as well as squatting (6.6%-38.9%). Almost half of them (48.0%) had to repeat the same activity by bending both wrists forcefully. Discomfort of shoulder and neck were reported most often (78.8%). Many subjects had wrist/fingers (66.2%) , low back (62.2) , knee (58.1%), and feet /ankle (50.0%) discomfort during the last 6 months. Subjects felt the most discomfort environment were working in a dusty room (r=0.4-0.5, p<0.01) and using toilet cleaner (r=0.3) or detergent (r=0.4). According to the odds ratio, several actions had positive relationship with WMSDs, such as 「bending both wrists forcefully」with「wrists/fingers」(OR=7.3), 「picking small things by fingers」 with「shoulder/ neck」(OR=10.8), 「static position」(OR=8.4)with「wrists/fingers」(OR=16.0),and 「stooping」with「low back」(OR=7.5). Work-related squatting posture is another risk factor with WMSDs, such as「picking small things」 with 「shoulder/neck」 (OR=10.5); 「reaching above shoulder height」with「wrist/fingers」 (OR=21.2),「knee」 (OR=8.6), and 「feet/ankle」 (OR=9.4); 「stooping」 with 「shoulder/neck」 (OR=9.5) ;「reaching behind the body」 with「shoulder/neck」 (OR=14.0) and「feet/ankle」(OR=10.6) (p<0.05-0.01).
