Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 圖書資訊學系 === 93 === Integrating technology into teaching has been promoted in education field in recent years. With more and more teachers adopting technology into their teaching practice, teachers’ information needs and their seeking behavior for information and teaching resources are expanded drastically. To meet teachers’ needs, libraries can play an important role to provide assistance and support. In this study, an investigation has been conducted to assess teachers’ information needs and their information seeking behaviors. In the study, a questionnaire was developed and distributed. Data were gathered among secondary-school teachers in Taipei County for statistical analyses. The results of the study show that most of the teachers are willing to integrate technology into instruction. However, a lack of skills in searching information and problems with hardware and software are their major barriers for implementation. Teachers have difficulties getting technical support. Besides the Internet resources, most of teachers obtain teaching resources from their colleagues in the same school. Obsolete and insufficient collection in secondary school library was expressed by most teachers. However, teachers reacted positively toward the role that a school library could play in order to assist teaching and students’ learning. From the results of the study, it is suggested that schools need to plan on technology integration from both technological and pedagogical aspects. More integration of information technology and information literacy into curriculum is needed. Opportunities of appropriate training workshops in teachers’ subject domains and information literacy skills are important to promote their professional growth.
