Summary: | 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 食品營養學系 === 93 === This study aimed to investigate the influence of surface modification on surface structure and hydrophobic properties of polyolefin, in order to associate with functional substances and increase added values. Effects of surface of modification were determined by FT-IR and contact angle meter. The experiment was initiated by evaluating the effect of source distance and relative humidity within reactor using UV/O3 method, and the results showed surface modification of HDPE was ascertained at 5mm distance, however, no significant influence was imparted by relative humidity. Use of TiO2 and duration (1 to 12 hr) were then experimented, and the effect on surface structure and hydrophilic properties were determined. The transmittance at 1716.34 cm-1 (-C=O) and 3648.66 cm-1 (-OH) of LDPE treated by UV/O3/TiO2 for 12hr decreased from 85% and 76% to 72.7% and 66.2%, respectively. Those transmittance were significant lower than specimens treated by UV/O3. The transmittances on HDPE were found decreasing with duration increasing, and UV/O3/TiO2 treatment showed greater modification than UV/O3. However, no significant differences were noticed on PP material. The contact angle on HDPE decreased after one hour UV/O3 and/or UV/O3/TiO2 modification. Decrease in the contact angles on LDPE was found in association with the duration. According to the decreases in IR transmittance and contact angle, we conclude UV/O3/TiO2 is beneficial to the surface modification of polyolefins.
