In the prolegomenon (Chapter 1), it specifies that researching motive lies in the writings relating to the Chinese Philosophy History, and most of its descriptions are ignoring Huyuan who has ever had a significant effect on the emerging of Sung’s speculative sect. By means of the exploration of “The Essential Principle and the Book of Changes” written by Lin Yi-Sen, we find that it has miscomprehended Huyuan’s concept, and we manage it as the onset of Huyuan’s philosophy research, trying to establish philosophy of the Book of Changes, and characteristic of the Essential Principle, further to recognize Huyang’s argumentation. The Chapter 2 is to figure out the core principle of the Nature-and-Man theory to interpret the criticism and creativeness of the Book of Changes by three angles of the style, principle, and spirit when Huyuan translated the Book of Changes, specializing in the spirit of alteration and pragmatism. The Chapter 3 is using the metaphysics, based on content and structure of the Book of Changes translated by Huyuan, to link up the system of life, ethics, and political conception. Huyuan uses the corresponding contemplation of nature-and-man to form his metaphysics as a basis to explicate the life, ethic, and political conception, but his crux is set within scope of the Utopia where both ethics and politics are entrusted. The Chapter 4 is to explore the origin and effect of Huyuan’s philosophy of the Book of Changes. Based upon the “Yi Chuan”, Huyang models himself on the octrine of Confucius and Mencius to illustrate his philosophy about the Book of Changes. As to the Wang Bi and Kon Yi-Da’s contention of the Book of Changes, Huyuan adopts a critical absorption to highlight the characteristic of Confucianism’s essential principle and Book of Changes. Influence of Huyang’s concept is primarily affected on Chen Yi, who develops a more systematic and theoretical philosophy of the Book of Changes in accordance with the given basis. The Chapter 5 is making four conclusions based upon the “Characteristic of Huyuan’s Philosophy of the Book of Changes: 1). After the “Yi Chuan”, Not until Huyuan interprets the Book of Changes, can the essential principle of the Book of Changes be attributed to Confucianism’s purely essential principle of the Book of Changes. 2). Huyuan uses the thinking and conception of corresponding nature-and-man to connect ontology, life theory, and ethic and political conception. 3). Huyuan’s philosophy is stressing on “Wuai Wong” (means, from inside to outside, to slap the policy of benevolence on Government), i.e. how to carry out the educational mission and ideal after the egocentric training has been achieved. 4). From Huyuan to purify the Confucianism’s essential principle of the Book of Changes, and his influence on Chen Yi, we may see his important status in the philosophy history of Book of Changes in carrying on the past heritage and open up the future.
