Due to the expensive investments, TFT-LCD makers always input materials into production line continuously to increase the utilization of equipments. However, the production rates of machines are not balanced in production line. Continuous inputs cause huge WIP and thus more production cost is generated. For constructing a more economical production way, this research studies the performance of push production model, pull production model and hybrid production model by simulation software of eM-Plant. Our simulation results show that hybrid production model may reduce WIP more than push production model. In addition, production cycle time of hybrid production model is the shortest in three models. The results of this research suggest that the hybrid production model is a good choice for TFT-LCD manufacturing.
