Presently, seismic performance-based evaluation to calculate capacity curve by pushover analysis is the main method. However, assessment procedures is mostly suitable for buildings and straight bridges.
In this paper, a two-way lateral load pattern is taken as the approximation of the distribution of the inertia force when the bridge’s maximum seismic response occurred on the seismic direction at an angle with bridges. Define the two-way hinge properties for bridge component simultaneously and choose the suitable target-displacement monitored point by dynamic analysis.
An example of the assessment procedure on a 8-spans curved bridge structure is presented. Compare the response with time-history analysis to decide the original load pattern. Hope to provide a reference for future development of the pushover analysis method.
