Summary: | 碩士 === 大葉大學 === 教育專業發展研究所 === 93 === The purpose of this study is to understand the relationships between multiple intelligences and vocational interests among college students. 657 junior students from nine universities participated in this study. The results indicate that the relationships between multiple intelligences and vocational interests do exist. Those students with the vocational interest on the social type or enterprising type are higher in interpersonal intelligence. The artistic type students or the enterprising type students are higher in intrapersonal intelligence. Those with the vocational interest on artistic or enterprising type are good at linguistic intelligence. The artistic type students also score higher in musical intelligence. The artistic or enterprising type students score higher in bodily-kinesthetic intelligence. The artistic, investigative or realistic type students are good at spatial intelligence. The investigative type students are also doing well in naturalist intelligence. The investigative or realistic type students are good at logical-mathematical intelligence.
In addition, the college students with different majors are found to have the strengths and weaknesses in their multiple intelligences. The students majoring in Foreign Languages, Accounting, or Nursing score higher in interpersonal intelligence than the students from the Department of Information Engineering do. Students from the Departments of Chinese Literature, Financing as well as Social Work are higher on intrapersonal intelligence than the students from Departments of Mathematics and Information Engineering. In terms of verbal intelligence, students from the Departments of Chinese Literature and Law perform the best, and the students from the Departments of Mathematics and Finance perform poorly. Students from the Departments of Mathematics, Physics, and Electrical Engineering have the highest logical-mathematical intelligence, while the
students from Departments of Chinese Literature and Foreign Languages have the weakest performance. Males and females have their dominant intelligences. Females are good at interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences while males are better at bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, spatial intelligence, and naturalist intelligence.
Last, there are significant differences in vocational interests for students with different majors. Those from the Departments of Mathematics, Physics, Information Engineering and Electrical Engineering have the most interests on the realistic type. Students from the above four departments and the Departments of Nursing show the most interests on the investigative type. Students from the Departments of Law, Finance and Accounting have the most interests on the enterprising type. Students from the Departments of Business Management, Finance, Accounting and Mathematics have the most interests on the conventional type. Students from the Departments of Chinese Literature and Nursing have the most interests on the artistic type. Those from the Departments of Physics and Information Engineering don’t have interests on the social type.
