The input devices for a computer play an important role. The best performance belongs to the mouse in the static environment. The mouse is not as good as the trackball in the dynamic environment, mouse is difficult to operate in a naval vessel which is subject to motion and vibration. Developing a pointing device which can be grasped to promote the stability in operation is purpose of this research. The device is a trackball positioned on a vertical handle. The hand grasps the handle and moves the trackball with the thumb. The study investigates the forearm posture in using the device. The results show that the device can be used with a particular hand and forearm posture to produce best operating performance. Joe-Hsiang Lin 林久翔 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 125 zh-TW
