First,rectangular slot antennas with various feeding structures for wideband operations are investigated. It is found that a rectangular-shaped microstrip-line-fed structure is an effective feeding scheme to improve the broadband impedance characteristics of the rectangular slot antenna. Then, for
achieving an UWB operation, a pentagon slot antenna with an offset rectangular-shaped microstrip-line-fed structure is presented. Finally, by inserting a C-shaped slot on the rectangular-shaped microstrip feedline, an UWB pentagon slot antenna with band notch function can be obtained.
