The Karnopp friction model is adopted and the intermittent movement of spacers acted by normal force, friction, and weight is investigated. Both the FEM model of TFT-LCD panel and the stick-slip motion model of spacers are constructed in this thesis. Through the FEM model, one can obtain the normal forces acting on spacers and then substitutes them into the stick-slip motion model to compute the movements of spacers. The effects of various parameters, such as the distribution of spacers, the frequency of the vibrating panel, and material properties of spacers and the panel, was studied in this project.
