It applies the curriculum guidelines regarding information technology set forth by the NASPAA to examine the curriculum design of information education in the MPA programs in Taiwan, and compare the design with top 50 MPA programs in the US. It also examines with a survey the computer literary of graduate students in Taiwan’s MPA program. It concludes with suggestions to future curriculum arrangements for the MPA programs in Taiwan. The research found that 83% of graduate students possess basic to medium range computer literacy in word-processing, spreadsheet, quantitative analysis, and presentation packages. Yet most of the students lack adequate training in databank management, public accounting, personnel management, GIS, and fiscal analysis packages. In terms of curriculum design, MPA programs in Taiwan and the US focus mainly on training for quantitative analysis. Meanwhile, they tend to ignore the need for information system management skills. The study thus suggests that MPA programs in Taiwan should emphasize the following to upgrade computer literacy of graduate students: 1. Continuing to provide advanced computer-related courses in databank management, public accounting, personnel management, GIS, and fiscal analysis. 2. Integrating information system management courses into the MPA programs. 3. Recruiting faculty with adequate professional background in information technology. 4. Establishing an organization that sets forth the standards of computer literacy and holds examinations for computer literacy certification. Lu, Chun -Meng 魯俊孟 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 199 zh-TW
