Description
Summary:碩士 === 中華大學 === 科技管理研究所 === 93 === According to Theory of Constraints, the maximum throughput of a factory is determined by the bottleneck; thus, bottleneck must be well-protected and fully utilized. To fully exploit the limited capacity for the bottleneck, the defective works are prohibited to enter the bottleneck station and a good work cannot be damaged in the non-bottleneck stations after the bottleneck. However, in the pressure of cost down, managers will be forced to pursuit the high efficiency of machines and ignores the influence of high efficiency on the yield rate. Although the decline of yield rate under high efficiency is minor for the non-bottleneck, this will damage the capacity of bottleneck and then lower throughput of the factory. This paper attempts to explore the throughput of a factory influenced by the relationship of the efficiency and yield rate for a non-bottleneck. To get the maximum throughput of a factory, then, an evaluation model is proposed to find a better but not the highest efficiency for the non-bottleneck. Finally, a real-life TFT-LCD company case is utilized to demonstrate the proposed concept and evaluation model.
