Summary: | 碩士 === 中華大學 === 土木與工程資訊學系(所) === 94 === In face of the important worldwide issue of sustainable development, not only the economical benefit but also the environmental sustainability has to be involved in designing and manufacturing industrial products. Reusing construction resources, such as recycled pavement, scrap tires, and glass gullets, is a major effort of paving industries in Taiwan. With political 10% advantage in the procuring price, these new products seem not to be beneficial to compete with conventional products. The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) introduces the notion of a corporation’s responsibility for the whole life cycle, encouraging and assisting the process of strategy review. This particular study is focused on using the LCA to evaluate the products manufactured in the asphalt industries in Taiwan, including recycled hot mixes, modified asphalt, asphalt rubber, and asphalt concrete with waste glass. The LCA approach calls for including not only collecting and estimating the inventory data, but also the impact assessment on the environment. The study methods will include literature review, database usage, questionnaires, and field investigation. Through personal interview, the expert opinion of senior members from Taiwan Asphalt Industry Association, will also be organized and used as important inputs for establishing LCA inventory data. While completing, this particular study will clearly presents asphalt industries with a mean of life-cycle thinking on their products.
