Summary: | 碩士 === 長庚大學 === 化工與材料工程研究所 === 93 === Volatile organic compounds(VOCs) and organic compounds in air can be decomposed over semiconductor such as TiO2 on irradiation of UV or visible light. The emission of gasoline vapor from gasoline service station is becoming a significant environmental problem especially for the population densed area in Taiwan. In this research, a gel containing nanocrystalline TiO2 was coated on glass plate surface at the gasoline station by photocatalysis.
For this study, we designed a photocatalysis glass plate with TiO2 as catalyst. In order to investigate the removal efficiencies of pollutants, the experiments were performed under various initial concentration of reactants, UV light intensities, combined-photocatalyst, and retention time in an films photoreactor.
From the results, the conversion of oil gas was greater than 60%, the maximum reaction rate was 0.7853mole/hr-g, and reaction rate was a first order reaction for this experimental system. For the study of photocatalyst deactivation, the rate of decomposition is low for the second reaction, when the same TiO2 film was operated continually for twice batch reactions. But after irradiation of UV light 0.54mW/cm2 for two hours in ambient, the activity of the TiO2 catalyst recover to the original value.
