The purposes of this study were to examine the current situation of wisdom and life satisfaction of students in the Elderly Social University Affiliated to Institute for Life Long Learning and to investigate the relationship between wisdom, life satisfaction and the different background of these elderly students.
In order to achieve the objectives of the research mentioned above, questionnaire survey method was adopted. The survey instrument was a self-administered questionnaire entitled “Elderly Wisdom and Life Satisfaction Questionnaire”, and the collecting sample consisted of 303 students in the Elderly Social University. After the pretest and formal test, by using statistic method and analyzing all the data obtained from the questionnaire survey, there come out the following five conclusions:
1. The level of wisdom of these students is ranked over average.
2. The life satisfaction of these students is somehow satisfactory.
3. There was significant difference between the wisdom and the education level of these elderly students.
4. There was significant difference between the life satisfaction and the education level of these elderly students.
5. For these elderly students, the higher the wisdom is, the higher the life satisfaction.
Finally, according to the conclusions of this study, some practical suggestions were also proposed not only to the elderly and the teaching-elderly educators but also to the related departments of the government and the public or private institutions, which hold the elderly-related activities.
