Among several wireless network standards, IEEE 802.11 is the most famous one. It specifies the medium access control (MAC) and physical (PHY) layers for wireless local area networks. In the MAC layer, it introduces the distributed coordination function (DCF) and point coordination function (PCF). The distributed coordination function (DCF) scheme is the primary medium access control (MAC) scheme for IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs. In this thesis, we analyze the channel hogging behavior in multi-hop and single-hop IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networks. In a single-hop WLAN, we observe no channel hogging behavior. In the multi-hop networks, due to the hidden terminal phenomenon, nodes at different locations suffer different degrees of channel hogging phenomenon. Their throughputs are therefore affected by the extent they are involved in channel hogging. Ting-Chao Hou 侯廷昭 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 58 zh-TW
