However, little has been done in understanding how executives use the EIS. The study is to examine the executives’ usage behavior of the EIS. A theoretical model based on social cognitive theory and information retrieval model was conducted to empirically test the relationships among individual differences, organizational contextual factors, cognitive perspective, information acquisition behavior, and decision performances. The results indicate that individual’s cognition toward computer and organization supports significantly affect the EIS use, mediated by the increased focused search. In addition, the information needs are influenced by individual characteristics and organizational characteristics and subsequently affect EIS use. Implications from those findings are also provided.
