A commercial ink-jet printer was employed and the cartridge was filled with various catalytic solutions to find optimal conditions and catalytic species.
As a result, carbon nanomaterials, including carbon nanofibers, carbon nanocoils, MWNTs, and bamboo-like CNTs, were grown by CVD method under the presence of Ni catalysts at various temperatures. FE-SEM and HR-TEM were used to examine the morphologies, dimensions, graphitic structures of carbon nanomaterials, respectively. In addition, J-E and F-N curves of CNFs were measured by Keithley 237 and the result showed that the turn-on voltage for field emission was in the range of 3.05~3.37 V/μm(10μA/cm2) and the largest current density is 5mA/cm2 at 4.3V/μm.
