Description
Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 機械工程學系 === 92 === ABSTRACT An experimental study has been made related to the vortex generators in a thermal module. The heat transfer and pressure drop in the module are analyzed with different types of vortex generators including delta wing, rectangular wing, and wedge. Different arrangements of the vortex generators are also investigated. The results show that the heat transfer increases about 9% and the corresponding pressure drop decreases about 6% for the vortex generators of delta wing because the more complete mixing of the generated boundary layers. However, it is only slightly helpful to the heat transfer if more vortex generators are placed in the flow channel of the thermal module due to its limited space. The heat transfer increases 6.5% for VG-6 type and 9.4% for VG-5 type. As for the wedge type of vortex generators, the heat transfer increases, but the pressure drop also increases. For the backward wedge, VG-6 , the heat transfer increases 6.5% but the pressure drop increases 21%. For the forward wedge, VG-7 , the heat transfer increases 11.3% but the pressure drop also increases 15%. The experimental results demonstrate that the vortex generators can be applied to the thermal module effectively to further reduce the maximum temperature of related electronic chips .
