Summary: | 碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 技術及職業教育研究所碩士班 === 92 === The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between principals’ transformational leadership and organizational change of high schools in Chaiyi area. This research adopted questionnaire survey as the main technique. Using high school teachers in Chaiyi, Taiwan as the subjects, this study was conducted during April and May in 2004. Five hundred and ten study subjects were surveyed and 408 subjects responded, yielding a responding rate of 510. The data were analyzed with SPSS for Windows10.0 at the .05 level. Statistic methods such as ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation, canonical correlation and multiple stepwise regression were used for data analysis.
The findings of this research are as follows: (A) Among the dimensions of principals’ transformational leadership, the “inspirational motivation” was the most frequently adopted, while the “individualized consideration” was the least used by the principals. (B) School organizational change was well performed in respect of establishing the awareness of crisis in school business, but what was insufficiently performed was the aspect of “proposing the shared vision of change.” (C) There were significant differences in principals’ transformational leadership due to the differences among principals’ personal backgrounds and the differences among the backgrounds of the high schools. (D) Similarly, there were significant differences in school organizational change due to the differences among principals’ personal backgrounds and the differences among the backgrounds of the high schools. (E) The principals’ transformational leadership and school organizational change in high schools were positively correlated. The more the principals adopted transformational leadership, the more significant the school organizational change would be. (F) The principals’ transformational leadership in high schools was highly predictable when school organizational change was concerned. Therefore, principals’ transformational leadership is essential to the school organizational change.
Based on the results, this study proposed suggestions for educational administration institutions, high schools, the principals, and the teachers. Also, there were suggestions for future researchers.
