Summary: | 碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 工業設計系碩士班 === 92 === This study probes into differences occurred in sense of tactile and psychological feelings of different ages of people. This study is not only aimed to investigate degrees of feedbacks from sense of tactile made by button-pressure, but also probes into the power of button-pressure for different ages of people that creates some different situations while using electronic products, especially by the elderly. Through series of virtual tests and verifications, this study also proposed psychological responses from the elderly when pressing buttons. Furthermore, not only providing designers and industrial circles references when designing aging products, but also giving advices related to designs of other daily products for the elderly. Results gained from this study, of which also can be implemented as references for the design process, are as follows:
1. For comfort; no differences found in the condition between youngsters and elderly who operating mobile phones by both hands. It probably happened because senses of auditory and visual acuity of the youngsters are better than of the elderly. The dependency on these two senses is higher, thus, button-pressure definitely is not the main factor in determining degrees of sense of tactile when pressing buttons. While as for the elderly, because their body functions are degenerating, sense of tactile of their hands might not be as sensitive as people in common. When operating by one hand, stability is not as good as operating by both hands. Accordingly, no conspicuous differences found while using mobile phones by one hand as in operating by both hands.
2. For level of accuracy while pressing buttons; there were no differences for the youngsters whether buttons were good to press or not. But for the middle ages and the elderly, significant differences in sense of tactile were found while operating mobile phones by one hand or both hands.
3. As for the fondness of button-pressure level; middle ages while operating mobile phones in 250g-350g of pressure level by both-hand, their sense of tactile to differ were more significant. But for the elderly, there were obvious differences between operations by one and both hands while using mobile phones with 250g-350g of pressure level. The same condition also occurred in youngsters when using mobile phones by one hand and the button-pressure was 350g-400g.
