The factor in the synthesis process (catalyst, temperature, heat treatment condition, etc.), the structure of the gels, and the photoluminescence properties will be investigated. The objectives of the program are (1) to study the effect of silane coupling agent on the properties of the gels. (2) to study the effect synthesizing conditions on the properties of the gels. (3) to study the effect of metal ions on the properties of the gels.
