Description
Summary:碩士 === 臺南藝術學院 === 古物維護研究所 === 92 === Felt-tip pens have beautiful, brilliant, transparent color with continuous lines; these pens are usually used as drawing materials by children and contemporary artists in twenty century. The structure of felt-tip pens include reservoir and porous tips made of synthetic materials. The color ink is either acid or basic dye-base. However, the deterioration of dye-based media on drawings is occurred in the field of conservation, such as color transfer, fading, etc. This study is to try to understand components and fading characters of color inks through scientific analysis, such as UV-VIS, FTIR, and light bleaching etc. and to conserve painting “Wining Duck’s Way Home”, which was drawn by the author in 1983. Preliminary finding shows the red, pink, orange, purple and fluorescein are more unstable that scientific experiments about characteristic of dye, the different curve of UV-VIS spectrum by pH0-13 buffer solutions, and the fading tendency of amount of illumination by RGB and Gray values. Analysis functional groups of different self-color by FTIR spectrum. The pink, yellow, light blue and fluorescein in three different brands have similar IR spectrum and the light blue ink use the FD&C Blue #2. The conservation treatments include tape removal, mending, reduce tildeline, and inpainting.
