「Callusing」is a private documental about my artistic creation process . Through thesis I intend to express my personal journey in sculpture.
In the beginning of this thesis, I started form the tactile sense, trying to search the very beginning of feeling and the origin of creating sculpture. Meanwhile I also want to clarify the interactive relationship between the material and the feeling of hands.
In chapter 2, through the concept of Fractal, I intend to analyze the variation through time of my works, which based in the form of spherical, cone and cylinder. Also in analyzing my Peter.Pan complex, I trying to discover the root of my own fantasy.
Space and site spirit was the third topic of my thesis. Through the public art works of my own, I intend to express my opinion about the interactive relationship between the sculpture and space. In this topic I want to convey the possibility of the co-existence, the balance and the creativity meaning in both of spaces and sculptures.
Through all the discussion of the origin of sculpture, the infinitesimal variation in time track of forms and the interactive relationship between spaces and sculpture works. The of mentality state of artistic creation will be the last topic about my artistic creation process, in chapter 4, I will use my newest works in 2003 and the article of art criticism to objectively analyze and dissect the foundation of my art.
In the end of my thesis, I will use the description of Natsume Souseki’c article nightmare at ten nights to clarify the diffraction between my works and the traditional sculptures: the character of era.
After finishing all of these narratives I will return to my work site and continually creating works. Art works in my opinion, which is the real expression of an artist.
