Summary: | 碩士 === 臺北市立師範學院 === 國民教育研究所 === 92 === The study aimed at investigating the current situations of campus crisis management at Colleges of Technology in Northern Taiwan, and used the self-designed questionnaire as research tool to collect opinions from 38 first-ranking and 49 second-ranking executives. All the data in the thesis were processed and analyzed with statistical methods including frequency, percentage, and t-test. The findings of this study include:
1.In general, the staff in public and private colleges, whether male or female, first-ranking or second ranking executives, have sufficient capability in campus crisis management. The capability of males in charge of campus crisis management is higher than the females, first-ranking executives higher than the second-ranking ones, and the staff in public school is higher than the one in private school.
2.The main types of campus crisis are accidents, campus violence and suicides. They do more harm to the private schools than to the public ones. The harm they do to both public and private schools are slight.
3.A percentage of 65% of the colleges have campus crisis management programs as required by the government, while 35% of them don’t, which leaves much work to be done in the future. All crisis management organizations in the colleges have set up crisis management teams, campus security maintenance teams, and public safety maintenance teams. When crisis does occur in campus, the operation of crisis management team, depending on the dimensions of the crisis, determines the extent of mobilization, adjusts the structure of organization properly and reviews the operation of organization afterwards.
4.The main difficulties regarding the capability of the crisis management staff are lack of experience, alertness and sense of crisis, unfamiliarity with regulations. The main difficulties in planning, organization and operation are lack of communication and coordination among different sections, and absence of regular crisis simulation exercise. The main difficulties in educational training are shortage of educational training materials as well as absence of relevant courses, training and seminars for staff in charge of crisis management.
Based upon the research, the author proposes some suggestions for government educational organizations, schools and further studies regarding the promotion of campus crisis management.
