The purposes of this study were to understand the Job Stress and Exercise Behavior of Teachers at Elementary Schools in Taipei City, Taiwan. A survey was conducted to analyze the Job Stress and Exercise Behavior among the samples of a group of 416 teachers randomly selected from Elementary Schools in Taipei City.
Using descriptive statistics, independence t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe'''' Method, canonical correlation in the data analysis, major findings of this study are summarized below:
1. Among six dimensions of teachers’ job stressors, the highest was “lack of
support in administration”, followed by “teaching and counseling students”, “tense relationship with colleagues”, “self development”, “tense relationship with parents”, and “work overload”.
2. There were significant differences in teachers’ job stressors between different
genders, among different ages, and among different positions.
3. In exercise frequency, significant differences are found between different
genders, different marital status and among different ages. In exercise duration,
significant differences are found between different genders, and among different ages. In exercise intensity, significant differences are found among different ages.
4. There were a negative relationship between teachers’ job stressors and exercise
behavior, teachers have higher exercise behavior will decrease teachers’ job stress.
