With the flushing development of information technology, enterprises are increasingly to be dependent on the information usage. Information technology has not only contributed to cutting-down cost, promoting productivities and enhancing organization effectiveness, but also played an indispensable role in internal control. The competitiveness that IT provides becomes an important part in the courses of enterprise development.
The gift and stationary industry in Taiwan designs products with competitive edges through continuous transformation. Due to international competition, domestic labor shortage, rising wages, and industries migration, the gift and stationary industry must find their ways out to survive.
Living in an era of technology boom, we should take advantages of what we have to promote competitiveness. Modern technologies enable us to manage sales, production, R&D, human resources and finance. This study argues that before introducing new technology into actual implementation, the enterprises should ask themselves how much they understand the meaning of computerization.
This study runs imperial research through questionnaire to computerized and non-computerized players in gift and stationary industry in order to see how much these two groups deviate in various subjects. There are four major findings:
1.The top three subjects that two groups disagree are sales management, financial management and collecting information among peers.
2.Computerization helps enterprises promote publicity.
3.IT helps enterprises design new products.
4.Training process can be streamlined through computerization.
This study will make following suggestions to the players in gift and stationary
industry:
1.They should start with a comprehensive planning, then set up implementation schedules.
2.They must maintain accurate cognition toward computerization.
3.They must be committed to continuous improvement.
4.The salespersons must jointly participate in the planning project.
