The results of this study could be the valuable references for the teachers in integrating technology into elementary social studies. The researcher first discussed the tendency and the appropriate instructional methods of social studies, then discussed the benefits of integrating technology into instruction and its application in the social studies, subsequently induced the methods and the strategies for integrating technology into social studies. Combining the results from above analyses, the researcher further designed and developed the teaching model and the related activities with the teachers’ manual and the students’ handbook, and finally invited the experts and the experienced teachers to process the formative evaluation. At the end, the researcher made the revisions based on the comments. There were several findings in this research. First of all, the community participation method conforms to the tendency and the need of present social studies, can help the student to train the citizen participation in society. Secondly, the applications of integrating technology into the community participation method were to search and collect information, demonstrate achievement, manufacture course file, share and exchange achievement, and so on. Third, the teaching model of integrating technology into the community participation method can be divided into the preparation stage, the community study stage, the community inquiry stage, the community action stage, the achievement publication stage, and the introspection review stage, each stage and separately contains the teacher task, the student tasks, the technology applications as well as the check items. Finally, this research provided the suggestions respectively to the educational organizations, the school administrative departments, the teachers as well as to further investigations.
