The designing philosophy is based on low-cost, low-weight and short time to design the communication subsystem. To achieve the objective, a dual band handheld amateur VHF/UHF transceiver is selected and modified to be the communication module. Link-budget is calculated by including the antenna, communication module and ground station, and the performance is verified for the communication module. The on-board computer can control the receiving and transmission operation of the communication subsystem after the design and fabrication phase. On the other hand, the ground station and the associated ground software are established to control the micro-satellite and to receive the downlink telemetry.
