Most popular of all the wireless technologies is the IEEE 802.11. IEEE 802.11 is Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) define the first standard of WLANs to provide wireless data access in offices or schools. With WLANs standard defined, IEEE 802.11 has extend became IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11a and IEEE 802.11g. About transmission rate of IEEE 802.11b is 11Mbps and IEEE 802.11a & g is 54Mbps. Because of transmission bit rate raising and WLANs will became more popular. Now, WLANs is not only for data access but also can do the real time audio and video data stream transmission. IEEE 802.11b WLANs has become the base component of mobile computer now. Base on wireless technology many kinds of application make efforts for replace the transmission line of computer peripheral with wireless technology. In audio data transmission most of application is using Bluetooth technology. In the bandwidth and distance, Bluetooth is small than IEEE 802.11. In this paper IEEE 802.11b will apply to do real time audio transmission, because it can transmit more high quality audio data and more far distance. In wireless audio transmission system, it has some problem need to overcome. First is must to design a simple wireless protocol for finding, authentication and status acknowledgement base on standard and do not change. Second is to write a program of windows to receive or record audio data and than send it to wireless network. It is maybe a driver or application base on need requirements. Third is the code and decode, using a low computing complexity subband coding. Finally, we will test and verify the system. Key words: IEEE 802.11, audio, driver, subband coding.
