Summary: | 碩士 === 世新大學 === 行政管理學系 === 92 === The establishment and development of cultural and educational foundation in Taiwan can often be view as an epitome of economical, political, and social states during that specific time frame. From the data in 2000, 2001, and 2002, it is very clear that cultural and educational foundation is largest in scale among all of the non-profit organization in Taiwan. In this report, four cultural and educational foundations, selected from purposive sampling, were studied. In-depth interviews were conducted; firsthand data and related secondary data were also collected in aid to this research.
The major findings of this research include:
1. Majority of the volunteers comes from middle class family, with well education, and the range of age is between thirty to forty years old.
2. Most of the cultural and educational foundations can be run with very small amount of staff members in comparison to other non-profit organization in Taiwan. Most of the volunteers learn and join the foundations through peers. The majority of volunteers believe that the public images and public resources of the organization are the main attraction for them to join.
3. Volunteer’s work arrangement is according to professional knowledge, but their working content has lack of entirety, continuity, and institution.
4. In training perspective, most of the training was done by the senior members, and the focus was on reeducation.
5. With respect to retaining volunteers, most of the organizations agree that open reward ceremony is the best way. Most of the volunteers leave because individual desire or factors, for example graduation, busy work, move house, immigration and so on.
