碩士 === 東吳大學 === 社會學系 === 92 === The thesis studies the theoretical viewpoint of Rudolf Hilferding’s Finance Capital, attempting to understand its social foundations and contribution to contemporary. First, for elaborating the foundation of Hilferding’s theories, by analyzing another Hilferding’s issue Böhm-Bawerk''s Criticism of Marx chapter 2 expounds the fundamental differences not only between Marxist and economics but between Marx and Hilferding. There are so distinct social visions from Marx and Hilferding that Hilferding could make a foresighted perspective of finance. Second, this thesis tries to analyze how Hilferding essentialized the establishment of finance capital according to his theoretical presupposition. Hilferding elaborated two processes which, one the one hand, large sums of capital transform into money for profit, and one the other, banks increase the social power to be dominant. Those make the cartelization of banks and industrials, and it means a new stage of capitalism with a new social forms within finance capital. Chapter 3 analyzes one key term, the relations of credit, explaining how it could be possible and how it works, and each Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 discuss the two processes. Last, chapter 6 points out the meanings and contributions of Hilferding. It is said that Hilferding not only developed Marxist economic theory but also observed what researchers today ignore, therefore it may be important and useful to the studies of contemporary financial phenomenon.
