Description
Summary:碩士 === 實踐大學 === 家庭研究與兒童發展研究所 === 92 === This study intends to discuss and evaluate the process and effects of a premarital education program (the Couples’ Group of Focus on the Family). In addition, the results of the study would provide future reference for family educational workers who promote and design premarital educational programs. This couples’ group consisted of seven premarital couples, and they attended the program three hours a week for a total of four weeks. The design of this program was based on Dr. David Olson’s “Growing Together Program 2000.” This study used a single group research method. The Couple Prepare Inventory developed by Dr. David Olson was used as a pre- and post-test for analysis in order to look at the changes of the participating couples’ relationships. During the whole program, other evaluations like weekly program evaluation sheets, group observation records, group leader’s self evaluation, and data collected through interviews with the couples were also used to further assess the effects of this program. This study came to the following conclusions: A. The process of the group:The process of the group was quite smooth and the group members’ participation was active and positive. B. The changes of couple relationships:according to the pre- and post-test results, the relationship scores showed changes after attending the program. C. The evaluation from the group members:most participants gave positive assessment for “group design”, ”group leader”, and “administration.” Lastly, based on the results of this study, the researcher provides some useful suggestions for those interested in planning and designing premarital education programs in the future.
