In recent years, the graded exams of music have emerged as an alternative to music competitions. As more and more people are attracted to music learning, the standard goes up. Participating in Zheng graded exam is a great challenge for many Zheng students. Currently, there are three institutions giving Zheng exams in Taiwan. As each of these institutions has different emphasis regarding its policy and repertoire requirement, the perspective participant always wants to know how to choose from. The purpose of this research is to develop a method to exam the degrees of technical difficulty in teaching materials offered by the three institutions. This research will help to identify the levels of difficulty in the various graded teaching materials of Zheng music.
