Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 設計研究所 === 92 === Since the past 20 years, a trend in Taiwan has been launched in recognizing local culture. But under the influence of globalization, the styles of products designed in Taiwan are still covered by the America’s, Europe’s, or Japan’s images. How should a product design incorporate the “local culture” concepts? How can a designer distinguish “Western” or “Chinese” images in his/her designs? Many questions still need to be answered. The theory of folk occasion is a particular culture heritage. Reusing the culture heritage will gain more advantages in all aspects including product designs. The purpose of this research study is intended to explore the theory of culture heritage by using hermeneutics. In addition, the design factors extracted based on Wilhelm Dilthey’s theory will be applied to the design of lamps in this study.
Two experiments were conducted in this research. The generated results were further evaluated. The findings are listed as follows:
1. Based on the analysis of relevant literature pertinent to folk occasion, the important concepts are ideas, actions, experience expressions, the aura, and activity rules. After the validation design model, approximately 70% of the effects can be explained in the experiment.
2. The lamp designs based on the transformation process can really facilitate designers reach the effects of arrangement, integrate, and rapid extract of design features. Because of this, more concrete representations can be illustrated during the conceptual design process.
3. Because of the uniqueness of folk occasion, the underlined cultural values can be transformed in the design process. Also from the research results, the lamp design can provide users with innovative and surprised senses. This evidence further supports the value of transforming factors from folk occasions for design purpose.
