Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 電機工程學研究所 === 92 === The rapid growing popularity of consumer electronics capable of recording multimedia data, such as digital camera, audio recorder or digital video recorder, has brought people the joy of recording their daily life anywhere and anytime. However, the management of the vast amount of audio/video file is extremely laboring. For example, in order to find all the pictures relating to someone, the user has to browse all of the pictures in his hard disk. To facilitate the search operation, the context-based search technique is developed using context information collected at the instant when the picture is taken as search keys. The context information consists of the identification of nearby people, the geographical location of the camcorder, the date and the identification of the photographer. Since every picture the user taken is annotated with specific context information, searching for the pictures relating to someone, some location and some time span would be easier and more efficient. It is a pity that current digital cameras cannot tag such context information and embed it into the image file. So the Context-Aware Data Management System is designed and implemented on a personal digital assistant (PDA) as a substitute of digital camera to demonstrate how to leverage the novel features of the system to build applications. It will be an attracting feature if consumer electronics manufacturers can integrated this technique into their digital camera products.
