The study areas were Tali and Tadung tribes in the Taroko National Park and Fushih village. The study includes literature research and structured open-ended questionnaires to collect information about the tribal resources, national park managers, residents, and the relationship among them. The study results was that Tali and Tadung have enough natural and cultural resources to develop ecotourism and most residents had realized the meanings of ecotourism and their own roles in it. Besides, developing ecotourism was supported by all the residents, and most of them have the willingness to be engaged in related work. Although there were some different opinions between the park managers and the residents, the interaction between them had gradually improved and mutual respect had increased. Consequently, the sites were of readiness in all aspects for developing ecotourism. However, to achieve successful ecotourism in one step is impossible. There were still some limits and problems to be solved by both the residents and the managers. Therefore, this study also provided some strategies and made suggestions for ecotourism operation in the preparatory stage as well as in the formal stage, in hope to help the tribes develop ecotourism successfully.
