The linear transport equation based on the diffusion of water and electro-osmotic drag. Two kinds of boundary condition were treated:(1)the water concentration is maintained constant with constant mass flow rate at the membrane/cathode interface;(2)the water goes in or out of the membrane at the membrane/cathode interface. Several parameters were varied in order to describe the difference of water concentration profiles in the membrane. And the time for reaching the stable water concentration in the membrane is also studied.
Although the study is to simulate the water concentration in the proton exchange membrane but the whole fuel cell system. The results show that water concentration profiles in the proton exchange membrane is close to the actual situation. The analysis of water management of the membrane in polymer electrolyte fuel cell operations may as a guide of reference.
