CPFR is causing a revolutionary effect, enabling all participants in the value chain to share improvements in inventory costs and revenue, and more importantly, customer service. But currently, there are no components, processes or steps defined for supply chain execution, transportation and distribution management — the process of building orders into shipments, determining the mode/carrier, tendering, scheduling, shipping, tracking and payment. The natural extension beyond actual order generation is to convert the order forecasts into shipment forecasts and insure their accurate fulfillment. Otherwise, some of the benefits of CPFR will be lost. Thus, VICS has recently initiated a subcommittee under the Logistics committee to define CTM. Collaborative Transportation Management (CTM) processes can significantly reduce logistics costs for companies that are willing to share information and transportation assets with other shippers. In May 2003, Object Management Group (OMG) released their Model Driven Architecture (MDA), a new paradigm in System development. The Model-Driven Architecture is a development paradigm that aims to insulate business and application logic from technology evolution. It helps to build code quickly, in a middleware-independent, well-architected, consistent and maintainable way. Because of the lines between planning and execution are blurring, this paper aims to build a prototyping system which using the standard of CTM and based on MDA.
